Time is Ticking By
When you
go to college, everyone always says that time management is key. You must learn
time management. If you don’t manage your time well, then you will find life
hard. I always thought that I was a very skilled manager of time, but since
this new semester began at Ohio Northern, I have found out that I am not as
skilled as I thought I was.
My first
semester of college was at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. I was very
nervous. I knew I wanted a join some fun organizations. I was very active in
sports, music, and service in high school and I liked being busy. Going to
college, though, I knew that the work would be harder and take up more of my
time, so I had to pick and choose what I wanted to do carefully. I joined the
choir and that was basically it. I had ended up dropping a class, too, so I freed
up some more space. I ended up being bored and found myself watching a lot of Netflix
in my dorm room. I got all my homework done when it was due and ended up with
straight A’s for the first semester of my college career. I thought that this
was easier than what everyone was making it seem.
I ended
up realizing that Wittenberg was not the fit for me, so I transferred to the
beautiful town of Ada and began attending Ohio Northern University. The first semester
I attended here was in the spring, so all of the clubs and organizations had
already been going on for a whole semester. I didn’t jump in and join anything,
so I found myself doing homework and watching more Netflix all of the time. I
got good grades again, but I ended my first year with a bad taste of college
being left in my mouth. I wanted to do more and have fun. I wanted different
experiences that always didn’t involve school.
This
semester, I am involved in APO, a service fraternity, a social sorority, PRSSA,
working an job on campus, and I want to join club volleyball along with one of
the choirs. Already I am feeling overwhelmed and not sure that I can balance all
of the activities I want to do with my schoolwork. I know that these are things
that I wish to do, as well as get good grades. Balance is going to have to
become my new best friend.
I would
not change the opportunities that I have been given for the world. I love everything
about this campus and this community. I love all of the people I have met and
the incredible organizations and groups that I have the chance to get to be a
part of. I know that everything will work out in my favor and I might have to say
no once in a while (which is usually difficult for me), but I can’t wait for this
next chapter of life to start!
I don't manage my time well now. This is my first time leaving my parents so that it takes a lot of time to do housework. However, unlike you, I only have a whole year here. I want to enjoy many different things as much as I can!
ReplyDeleteTime management is what I always think difficult. I like to keep things organized so that I always write everything down on my schedule and check it everyday, but still, things never work out as I expect. But I only have 8 more months in Ohio, so, I am trying not to take all time doing what I need to do. I am trying to prioritize the things what I want to do.
