Pin and Interest Makes Pinterest

Last week, I read about the social media platform Pinterest. I have personally never been one to get too into Pinterest. I think it is somewhat addictive, but at one point or another, I begin to lose interest. I love to craft and make cute home décor, and this is certainly a place to find those types of things. I think one of my main problems in using this platform is that I don’t know exactly how it works or how you are supposed to use it to get the most out of it.

On Pinterest, you make boards. They are like a group of different ideas you have, or others have had that you put under one big idea. Say you want to create a board of elementary school crafts. In there, you can have different pins, such as hand turkeys, macaroni art, and so on. When I use Pinterest, I never make boards. I only ever look at the stuff others make.

Pinterest is pretty easy to find a lot of different ideas on. When you open an account, you can pick from a lot of different categories of things that you wish to see. There is also a spot to search keywords in. If you don’t have a Pinterest account, you can use Google. If you type in different companies or ideas into Google, it will pull up different pages on Pinterest to try to help you find what you are looking for.

One thing about Pinterest is that hashtags are not as common here as they are on Twitter or Instagram. There are some hashtags that do get used. When you use a hashtag in a pin, the hashtag is clickable. If you click on the hashtag, then you will be taken to a search of whatever the hashtag said.

  1. As a heavy Pinterest user, I would recommend trying it out and using boards, especially if you like to craft! It's such a great platform to keep track of all of your ideas, and the more you pin, the better Pinterest's recommendations for you get. Also, you can create sections in boards, which is a great tool to stay organized.

  2. Myself and many of my friends LOVE Pinterest! Although I personally don't make boards, I appreciate people that do. A lot of my friends make boards and often share them with me and their super helpful and always too cute to handle.
