Yours, Mine, and OurTube
Before this week, I had never thought of YouTube as a
social media platform. I always thought of it more as a Google for music and
different videos. Now that I have read about it from Jason McDonald’s perspective,
I could not be more wrong. There can be a lot that goes into YouTube to have a successful
page with numerously viewed videos.
If
you want your videos to be more accessible or easier to find, make sure that
you use good keywords. This way, your videos will come up easier on YouTube. Your
videos will also come up easier if someone just searches them on Google. It also
comes in handy depending on the brand. You can use keywords of different
products in your video titles, and your videos will come up when they search
those words.
In a
video, you can use a call-to-action overlay, which is a clickable link you can
add to your videos. These will act as an ad. You can pay to put them on your
videos, and you can pick the amount you wish to spend. Spending money on YouTube
is almost necessary to make sure your videos are getting the advertisement you
want them to. It doesn’t always cost a fortune, but it will help your page and
videos get exposure.
Facebook
goes hand and hand with YouTube. Sometimes, YouTube isn’t always the right
platform in which you need to be posting on. Facebook is the second-best sight
used for sharing videos. You should not use Facebook instead of YouTube.
Facebook has some features, such as live mode, that YouTube does not have. It
is also somewhat easier for a video to go on viral on Facebook rather than on
YouTube.
I also didn't see YouTube as a social media platform! But in hindsight, all of the YouTubers I watch use the platform in very different ways. Some vlog, some test products and some share music and lessons. It really is not much different than other platforms!
