Deals and Steals

Last week, Thanksgiving was celebrated by families all over America. What followed was another great holiday we like to refer to as Black Friday. I personally love Black Friday. I am not even sure that it is the deals that I can get at all of the different stores. I think it is the whole atmosphere and idea of the holiday itself. People get up early and shop till they drop. It is chaotic and fun all at the same time. I used to go with my mom until we started going to Florida for Thanksgiving. I always loved to wake up at five in the morning and grab coffee so we could try to make it through the day. Now, it is not as fun because some stores start Black Friday on Thursday afternoons and evenings. Plus, there is the whole online shopping thing. Boo.

One concept I think that most colleges should have is Black Friday deals. The bookstores on campuses should have deals on clothing items and university items. There could also be deals on books for the following semester. With there only being a few weeks left of school, college kids are more broke than ever, stressed to their limits, and are extremely tired. One thing I think we could all get behind is the idea of Black Friday for campus gear.

Black Friday wouldn’t have to be spent on campuses. While it is not as much fun online, it would still give broke students to grab some deals for friends, family, and themselves. I know for a fact that I would be in for this idea. I would love to get some deals on ONU gear, especially with Christmas right around the corner. It is convenient because we don’t have to go out to an actual store that is probably twenty minutes or further away. Let’s make this a thing Ohio Northern!

  1. I totally agree with your idea that the bookstores on campuses should have deals on books for the following semester! It would be very helpful for all students.

  2. Black Friday is totally an interesting holiday, and I think ultimately it's not too bad but probably not the best environment to me—not to mention that stores are being /so/ greedy they start black friday halfway through Thanksgiving. Anyhow, I feel like cyber monday will only take off more and more in the future.

  3. I used to love to go black Friday shopping with my mom! I hate that it starts on Thursday now. One store opened at 2pm on Thanksgiving. That is literally the time my family eats dinner! I wish it would just start at 5am on Friday, like you said.

I actually went out on Thursday night after my family left. I got a coat that is originally $230 for $90. I was super happy about that.
