Dead Week Indeed
We have finally reached the final week of classes here
at ONU. This week is always labeled as dead week, and I think we all can agree
it is an appropriate term to describe the week. Dead week is supposed to mean
that there are aren’t a lot of assignments due that are too major and take up a
lot of time so we all can begin to prepare ourselves to study for finals the
following week. However, if you ask me, I feel more overwhelmed this week than
prior weeks during this semester.
This week,
I have to write a paper, do a religion assignment, finish an original case
study, create a presentation for the case study and present it, write three
blogs, take a quiz, present a group project, and all of this is on top of
regular homework from other classes. I am so nervous that I am going to forget
to do something or turn something in on time. There is pressure from all
classes and the thought of finals coming the week after makes me want to shut
down.
I
think all students can agree that we feel dead during dead week. We are tired, exhausted,
and worn down from all of the stress that is being piled on top of us all at
once. We are all ready for Christmas and for the month long break we get from
school and to be back home with our families. I only live thirty minutes away
from home, but I have never wanted to be there more than I do right now. It’s
not even that I mind being at ONU. I love it here, but I am just ready for this
semester to end. I think that the semester went rather quickly, but I promise you
that these next two weeks will drag on forever.
