Three Things You Need to Have a Successful Siblings Weekend
This weekend is siblings and family weekend here at
Ohio Northern University. I was not here last year when they held this, so I am
very excited to attend my first one with my little brother, Rece. Even though I
have never attended, I think that I have a pretty good idea of what we will
need or need to do in order to have a fantastic weekend together.
The
first thing you need is to get matching shirts. I bought us ONU siblings
weekend shirts back before school was in session. It might be less fun for my
little brother to match his big sister, but I could not be more excited. They are
going to be super cute and it will be a great piece to remember this by
someday.
The second
thing you need is a whole list of fun activities to do. I know on Friday night
we are going to go watch “The Incredibles Two” on the tundra. He hasn’t seen it
yet, so it’ll be fun to bring out a bunch of blankets and junk food and just be
able to hang out and spend quality time together while doing something fun. On Saturday,
there is a festival in downtown Ada with a lot of different fun craft vendors
and food stands. We will probably go to that to do some fun crafty things. I also
know the football game is that day, so we are definitely going to that. He plays
football, so I think he would enjoy watching a college team play. I think there
might be inflatables out on the tundra and those are just fun for all ages. Even
if he doesn’t want to go (he’s thirteen, so I think he will), he can just watch
me have fun.
Third,
you need good food to keep your energy up for all the fun activities you wish
to participate in throughout the weekend. Friday night after the movie, there
will be a breakfast buffet which I am always a fan of (both breakfast and
buffets). On Saturday, there will be plenty of food trucks around that are FREE,
which is always a plus for broke college kids and their families/siblings.
My
little brother and I have always been pretty close. It has only ever been just
the two of us, so it was either get along or not at all. Luckily, we usually
do. I also only live about thirty minutes away, so really if he wanted to, he
could come up whenever he wanted, but weekends like this upcoming one just seem
to make it more special. I know we are going to have a lot of fun with all the
different activities and the people that will be coming onto campus as well. I know
I will definitely cherish this weekend forever because after this weekend, I only
get to do it a few more times. At the link below is the entire schedule of siblings weekend, so feel free to give it a look!
This is such a cute idea! I personally have 6 siblings, so maybe the matching tshirt idea would be a little more of a financial burden, but I might use this! Having your siblings on campus and showing them how you live is such a cool thing to do for the first time. I remember my younger three siblings being completely dumbfounded that I lived the way I do! I hope you had/ have a great time!
