Fall Break

Fall break is probably one of my favorite breaks of the year. It is one of those breaks that is kind of unexpected and not really there for a specific reason. Thanksgiving break is clearly for a holiday, Christmas is as well, and Spring Break is just a tradition in a sense. Then there is fall break. It is like we are about half way through this fall semester and we all just need a minute to be able to catch our breath and get some rest. It is just a little bonus break that gives us the strength to make it to Thanksgiving and then finally power through finals.

Over this break, I went home and worked. A lot. I am a waitress at a restaurant called Cassano’s. My grandparents built it at Indian Lake in 1975. I have been working there since I was 14 years old. I have been waitressing since I was about 17. Waitressing is a lot better than just working in the kitchen because I can make a hundred dollars in one night and take it all home with me. I don’t have to wait for my paycheck the following week. Waitressing is fun sometimes. I can have a really good night, do everything perfectly, and make a ton of money. However, not every night goes perfect. Overall, this break went well for me waitressing. I made about $550 and I only waitressed three days.

This break was also my home school’s homecoming. I had to work the night of the game and the dance, but I did get to do one of my friend’s hair for the dance and two other girls. My mom is a hairdresser and she asked me to help her out and do a few girls so she didn’t have to tell them she could not do their hair. I did three girls and it was really hard. My mom always did my hair for dances growing up in school, and I guess I underestimated how hard it actually was to do it and to make sure it stayed up all night. At the end of the day, I was really proud of the ones I did and I had a really fun time doing them.

I finally got to watch my little brother play football as well. He is in eighth grade and I haven’t made it any of his games yet because I have been at school and it just hasn’t worked out. Unfortunately, they did not win. It was still really great to see him play. He plays both soccer and football, and next year in high school, he will have to either choose one or the other. He could, however, kick for football and play soccer most of the time. It will be interesting to see what he decides because he is very good at both.

I am glad that fall break is over with now and we can keep pushing through the rest of this semester onto finals.
